How much exercise do we really need?
There isn’t a clear cut answer to this question, because everyone’s needs are different. But the simple fact is we all need exercise. It doesn’t need to happen in a gym and it doesn’t need to take hours a day.
The fact is people just need to move more and usually eat less. That’s whole different topic for now well just deal with exercise. Unfortunately the down side to living in the developed world is we actually get less opportunities for physical exercise.
If stuck in a cubicle for 8hrs a day your presented with less time to spend just moving your body. The problem working against us is this a object in motion tends to stay in motion but that same object at rest is just going to stay there. It’s real simple the more you move the more you’ll want to move. But the opposite is true as well, classic catch 22.
This means whatever activities your doing for exercise they must be sustainable.
The Idea a lot of people have is you need to spend hours in the gym every day. I’m sorry even as someone who made exercise their career for a half a decade I realize it just isn’t realistic for most people. Or is it even necessary to exercise like that.
Currently I do a weight training routine that takes me between 7 to 15 minutes every other day. For cardio I shoot for 20 to 30 minutes three times a week.
I’d like to exercise more and train harder but it isn’t feasible with my current work schedule. So instead I do what I can stick to and it’s working. The results are taking longer then I like but I know what I’m doing is sustainable.
The moral of the story find time to exercise.
Whatever that means to you just do something and stay consistent with it. If your exercise program consists of taking the dog for longer walks, that’s awesome.
If your exercise program is going to be 15 minutes a day, great. Just stick with it. When you have bad day or run into a snag don’t beat yourself up. Just move on because you’ll get another shot at.
So don’t sweat the small stuff just get some exercise in your life.

You are absolutely right! It’s not about being the ultimate exerciser; it’s about moving more. We always say, “Move a little bit more than the day before.” Your message will reach consumers far better than the “Make an hour 6 days a week” people, because what you’re suggesting is achievable!

Thanks for reading my blog and leaving the kind words. I’ve got a tough schedule at work, at home, and now on-line so I understand the challenges people face when it comes their health and fitness. I’m right there in the trenches just like everyone else so my goal is to give people something they can use.
